Big League Chew® at Trevi's Homecoming 2023

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Big League Chew proudly partnered with New York Yankee catcher Jose Trevino and 24 Sports to sponsor Trevi’s Homecoming, a weekend long youth baseball extravaganza in Trevino’s hometown of Corpus Christi. Everything is bigger in Texas, and this event was certainly no exception!

The festivities got started in a BIG way with batting practice off of the USS Lexington to kick things off on Friday. Pro players, local youth athletes, and even the Savannah Bananas launched balls off the U.S. aircraft carrier into the Gulf of Mexico in what was one of the most unique BP sessions of all time. The athletes chomped on Big League Chew as they hit tank after tank, and then shared the love with the crowd who were itching for a taste themselves!

The fun continued at Whataburger Field, home of the Corpus Christi Hooks AA team, where fans were treated to a Celebrity Softball Game (featuring Big League Chew founder Rob Nelson as a coach) as well as a youth home run derby that included some serious sluggers! David Meadows of the Savannah Bananas took home the title of Big League Chew MVP for the Celebrity Softball Game (and the congratulatory gumball bucket that came with it), while the winners of the youth HR derby received one-of-a-kind Big League Chew baseball bats for themselves and their team.

The weekend kept on rolling with tournament play on Saturday and Sunday, where kids and parents had the opportunity to meet Jose Trevino and Big League Chew founder Rob Nelson during an autograph session. When the sun set on this unforgettable weekend, kids left with a smile on their face and a pouch of shredded bubble gum in their pocket!

Big League Chew looks forward to working with Jose Trevino and 24 Sports to bring to life more memorable experiences like this for the next generation of ballplayers.

About Big League Chew

Sitting in a bullpen in Oregon in the summer of 1977, Portland Maverick lefthander Rob Nelson came up with an idea that has had a lasting impact on the game of baseball: shredded bubble gum in a stay-fresh pouch. Since hitting the shelves in 1980, Big League Chew has produced and sold more than one billion pouches and is designated as the “Hall of Fame Bubble Gum” by the National Baseball Hall of Fame & Museum.

Big League Chew is proudly made in the USA by Ford Gum, a top manufacturer and co-manufacturer of assorted gums, confections, and health-related products for leading American brands.

About 24 Sports

24 Sports was founded in the Fall of 2021 by L'Erin Hampton and his wife Joy who, by drawing from their own experiences in travel ball, embarked on a mission to create the kind of meaningful and memorable experiences they wished they had as coaches and parents.

Like many others their journey started out in rec ball. They quickly found themselves deeply involved, serving on boards and immersing themselves in the world of travel ball. They've had their fair share of exciting wins, tough losses, and even team drama.

Now, through 24 Sports, they're stepping onto the field with a fresh perspective. They're not just organizing tournaments; they're creating unforgettable experiences with a commitment to growth, development, and endless fun.
